It is essential and helpful to be spiritually minded when looking for peace of mind. Galatians 5:17 says, “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” Here in Romans 8:6, Paul takes it even further and tells us that to set your mind on the things of the flesh is death and evil, but to be spiritually minded brings peace. However, it begins a war between our flesh and our spirit. When we become Christians, Christ makes us into a new creation. “For to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” – Romans 8:6 (KJV).

God’s peace of mind is so great that we cannot even understand it. With God, through Christ Jesus, we can find a peace that surpasses all of our comprehension. It won’t be a godly kind of peace or one that truly satisfies or lasts. We may find peace in other things, but the peace we find will be fleeting. As we search for peace in other places in the world, it is possible to find bits of peace here and there.

The true peace of God is one that surpasses anything that we could ever dream of. “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:7 (KJV).This ultimately is what brings us perfect peace in life as His followers. Focusing your mind on Him allows you to align yourself with His desires and with His plan for your life. Even while the world pulls your mind in every direction, stay focused on God. As this verse in Isaiah says, those who stay their minds on God will be kept in perfect peace by Him. The key to obtaining peace of mind is to focus your mind on God. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” – Isaiah 26:3 (KJV).When stressfull times come we can easily recall that word to receive peace and hide ourselves in him. We must continually interact with the Spirit of God by meditating on the word of God and memorizing the word of God. Declare them over your life and over your family and city. Look at them throughout the day, repeat them out loud and memorize them. Also, put them on the refrigerator or one your bathroom mirror. Write one or two on a small paper and carry them with you. When you are in His presence and reading the Bible certain scriptures will pop out and you may underline them. Time when there are no distractions and the house is silent and it’s just you and God. Time alone with God and his word is essential. His perfect peace is gained by renewing our minds through reading the Bible and communing with God and by being in His presence. God is telling us to keep our thoughts on Him. Chaos, lawlessness and fear are bombarding our minds constantly. God is telling us that the only way to peace is to keep our minds stayed on Him. “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” Isaiah 26:3 New Living Translation Depend on God and keep at it because in the LORD GOD you have a sure thing.” Isaiah 26:3 Message Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. “People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole. “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast ( that is committed and focused on You– in both inclination and character), because he trusts and takes refuge in You ( with hope and confident expectation)” Isaiah 26:3 Amplified
